Park & Ride

On a magic park & ride

We get not everyone has access to bikeable routes or vanpool connections. It’s not always possible to use Smart Travel options for 100% of your commute. That’s why we love a good Park & Ride.

Park & ride, you say?

We do.

Park & Ride lots are a combo of driving and public transit that can seriously cut down on your time behind the wheel. They are designated, free-to-use parking lots where you can leave your car and hop on a bus, train or join up with a carpool or vanpool to complete your commute. There are dozens in San Joaquin and Merced counties.

What's the catch?

No catch, but like any parking lot, parking is at your own risk.

Be sure to lock your car and don’t leave valuables in said car, but you’re a Smart Traveler. You got this. That said, we’re legally obligated to tell you that dibs, the San Joaquin Council of Governments and the Merced County Association of Governments are not liable for any damages or theft that may occur while your vehicle is parked at any of the park and ride lots. Rules and regulations for each lot are dependent upon which entity owns and operates the lot. State owned park and ride facilities fall under the jurisdiction of the California Vehicle Code while other locally owned lots may have different regulations

FAQ

It’s a FREE place where you can park your car and hop on a form of Smart Travel to continue your trip.

Parking and switching to another form of transit can save you both time and the stress of driving solo. Park & Ride lots are great for commuters with longer commutes and work best when you can park before the halfway point of your journey.

Unfortunately, dibs can’t accept responsibility for items stolen from your car at a Park & Ride lot. Make sure to lock your car and don’t leave any valuables behind. At the very least, make sure any valuables you can’t take with you are stored out of sight (in your glove box, center console or trunk).
